A kind person saw a small, sick kitten having a hard time in the middle of the road. They picked him up and took him straight to the nearest animal hospital. A worker at Coral Springs Animal Hospital in Florida saw that the 2-month-old kitten was really sick and wouldn’t survive long. So, she and her colleagues decided to adopt him together.
“When I first saw Lemon, I knew I was going to bring him home,” said Bryanna Rosario, a vet tech.
“After Lemon’s initial check-up, I found out he had a grade 4 heart murmur, which is really serious for a kitten. I took him to a heart specialist, and they said his condition was bad… they thought he might only live for a few more months.”
Lemon was born blind and has a severe heart condition. “His heart doesn’t work properly and has holes in it.”
But despite all this, Lemon is happy, playful, and doesn’t seem to be in pain. Bryanna wants to give him a chance to live a happy life filled with love and fun, even if it might only be for a short time.
“Right now, Lemon’s heart condition isn’t making him feel bad. But since I know he won’t live for a long time, I made a list of things for him to do so he can enjoy his last few months,” said Bryanna. They made Lemon’s Bucket List and are trying to organize as many fun trips and activities for him as they can.
Little Lemon is being looked after at the Coral Springs Animal Hospital. He’s like a family member to everyone there. Recently, Lemon went to the park and explored all the fascinating smells he could find. He was so excited and even tried to catch leaves and play with branches. You wouldn’t even know he’s blind when he uses his other senses so well.
A few weeks ago, they gave Lemon his first birthday party. He enjoyed his birthday cake and celebrated it with all his friends.
They even took him to the beach where he had so much fun running around and playing with the sand. He was fascinated by the sound of the ocean waves and the cool breeze. It was by far his most favorite adventure.
Little Lemon is quite the artist too! He made a beautiful painting using his paws. He’s a natural-born Picasso!
They also chose Lemon to be the very first cat president of the Coral Springs Animal Hospital. Everyone agreed, and he won with all the votes.
Spent a day at the car racetrack…
Lemon has also found a girlfriend, Rajah the cat.
They adore each other, and little Rajah acts as his seeing eye cat.
“Lemon is a really sweet and energetic cat who loves giving kisses and trying to steal your food,” said Bryanna. “Even though I won’t have much time with Lemon, it’s going to be the most special time.”
