In Russia, a stray cat did something really nice. It took care of and kept warm a baby boy who was left alone in a cold place. People think it’s great what the cat did.
This happened in Obninsk, a town in the Kaluga region of Russia. The baby was left alone on the floor of an apartment building entrance on a really cold Saturday. The temperature was below zero degrees Celsius.
There was a cat named Masha who lived in a cardboard box in the hallway. The TV Zvezda channel said that Masha kept the baby warm by cuddling with it for many hours.
Someone in the building heard loud cries. They opened their front door and saw the baby on the floor. The cat was sitting next to the baby, licking it and trying to keep it warm. This was reported by TV Zvezda.
The people who live there are sure that if the cat didn’t take care of the baby, the baby might not have survived. This was said by the person presenting the news on TV Zvezda.
Nadezhda Makhovikova lives in a flat nearby. She heard noises that sounded like a cat meowing in trouble. She went out to check and found out it was actually the baby crying. She shared this with REN TV.
When the paramedics came and took the baby in the ambulance, Masha followed them, as reported by REN TV.
Vera Ivanina, who works as a paramedic, told REN TV: “The cat was very concerned about where we were taking the baby. She followed us closely, meowing. It showed that she was really smart.”
On Russian TV, they showed a video of a fluffy cat with green eyes. People living there fed the cat and let it stay in the hallway.
The baby boy, who was around two to three months old, was completely healthy. He was left with clean clothes and a pack of diapers when he was abandoned.
The police are looking for the baby’s parents while the baby is being taken care of at the hospital.
