Animals are smarter than many people think, and this cat proves it. In a province of Turkey, a pregnant cat was meowing for help outside the local family health center. Her contractions had become too painful to bear.
On a Wednesday, according to a local news website called Bitlis 13 Haber, something heartwarming and amazing happened. A pregnant cat started meowing at the door of the No.2 health center in Tatvan district. People there realized she was having trouble giving birth to her kittens.
The nurses let the pregnant cat inside, but they didn’t understand what was going on with her. They noticed that even though she was having very strong contractions, she couldn’t give birth to any kittens. So, they decided to call the vet from the municipality.
The vet, Sefer Durmuş, examined the cat at the Tatvan Municipality Stray Animal Neutering and Rehabilitation Center. He saw that she was struggling a lot with giving birth naturally, so he performed a caesarean section, also known as a c-section, to help her.
“The cat was in bad shape and hurting when we got her. Since she missed her delivery time, we had to quickly operate on her,” explained the vet who performed the c-section. After the operation, the cat successfully gave birth to four healthy kittens, and the vet confirmed that the mother was doing well.
It’s evident that the cat understood she needed help and chose to go to the Health Clinic. What a clever mama cat!
