A really sad ending: someone died from a heart attack.

Richard Lewis, who was on the TV show Curb Your Enthusiasm, passed away from a heart attack.

On Wednesday, lots of people on social media, including his fans, and his co-star Larry David, and actress Bette Midler, shared love for Richard.

According to Deadline, the famous stand-up comedian had passed away. He was 76 years old.

His publicist later confirmed that he had died from a heart attack on Tuesday.

Richard became famous as a comedian in the 1980s.

After appearing on popular late-night talk shows like The Tonight Show, The Late Show With David Letterman, and The Howard Stern Show, he became really famous.

He acted as a fictionalized version of himself on the successful HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm. He even returned to play the same character in the 12th season alongside Larry David.

He was also on TV shows like Anything But Love, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Once Upon a Crime, and The Elevator.

HIS STRUGGLE WITH PARKINSON’S Richard shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account in April 2023 about his health.

“Three and a half years ago, I was on a tour and thought I was doing great after almost 50 years in the business. I decided to retire.”

“Then, unexpectedly, everything went downhill. I had one surgery, and then three more right after. It was a shock, but that’s just how life goes, right?”

“First, I had surgery on my back, then on my shoulder, then on my hip, and finally on my other shoulder,” he said. “I spent a lot of time doing physical therapy.”

“Then, two years ago, I started walking differently, shuffling my feet. I went to a neurologist, got a brain scan, and was told I have Parkinson’s disease.”

He mentioned he was lucky because they caught the disease early, and he’s taking the right medicines to manage it.

He also said he was quitting stand-up comedy to focus on writing and acting.

A TRIBUTE TO LARRY DAVID On Wednesday, Larry shared a touching statement about him, which HBO posted.

He said, “Richard and I were born just three days apart in the same hospital. He’s been like a brother to me all my life.” It’s rare for someone to be both the funniest and the kindest at the same time.

“But today he made me cry, and for that, I’ll never forgive him.”

“AN ICON OF COMEDY” Fans and friends of Richard shared sad news and funny memories of him from Curb Your Enthusiasm on social media.

Bette expressed sadness in her tweet about “the great Richard Lewis passing away.”

“Such a funny guy who will be missed by everyone,” actor Albert Brooks commented.

“Richard Lewis and Larry’s friendship was one of the best parts of Curb,” a fan shared.

“Rest in peace to a comedy legend,” another person wrote. “Richard Lewis will always be remembered.”

Another person wrote, “Richard Lewis wasn’t just funny; he left everything on the table.” It was so charming how vulnerable he was. “We lost a good one.”
