A stray cat who used to wander the streets, even during heavy rain, is now living in a loving home where he’s held close, just like he always dreamed

A stray cat that used to roam the streets, even in heavy rain, now enjoys being cuddled in a loving home, which is like a dream come true for him.

A few weeks ago, there was an orange cat in a neighborhood who was very hungry and looking for food. Volunteers from Alley Cat Rescue, who help take care of the local cat colony in Southern California, found him. They noticed his big, impressive cheeks.

At that time, it was raining heavily, and the new cat in the area was having a hard time finding food and a safe place to stay. The volunteers rescued him using a special trap and took him to a clinic. There, they found out he was friendly.

The cat was hungry, covered in fleas, and had scratches on his nose. But despite looking tired, he had a kind heart longing for love.

Percy was tired after fending for himself outside for so long

“No one could find a microchip or any missing cat posters online, so he was placed in the foster program,” shared Alley Cat Rescue. They gave him the name Percy, and that night, “he curled up, watching the rain fall through a skylight.”

Percy stayed on a desk behind two computer screens, taking his time to feel comfortable and get used to his new surroundings.

He was glad to be out of the rain

After being on his own outside for a long time, Percy was tired but happy to finally be out of the rain and have plenty to eat. He also had a cozy spot to rest.

Percy quickly started to feel more comfortable and wanted affection. After a few days without worries inside, Percy’s fur looked cleaner and shinier, and he seemed less tired and more lively.

Percy turned into a snuggly lap cat

As Percy got used to his new home and became more comfortable with the people taking care of him, he went from hiding on the desk to sitting on their laps. Percy found out he really likes cuddling and became a warm, purring companion. He would curl up on his human’s lap, making himself comfortable and purring loudly.

“This silly 12-lb boy doesn’t understand the limitations of the lap-to-cat ratio. He is being held up by a struggling arm.”

If his foster mom stepped away for a bit, Percy would stretch out in her chair, keeping it warm until she came back. Percy liked to “help” around the office and enjoyed sitting with his people because it made him feel safe and cozy.

He enjoyed sharing a seat with his carer

The cat formerly known as Tom became a beloved member of the rescue center, winning everyone over with his calm and sweet nature. He spent his days relaxing, probably daydreaming about treats and snuggles.

Percy captured the hearts of a wonderful family when he snuggled his way into their arms.

Percy has found his forever home

He’s made himself right at home in his new house, which is now his forever home. He’s taken over every part of it as his own kingdom. He sleeps in bed with his family every night and gives them the sweetest purrs and warmest cuddles in the morning when they wake up.

He is living like a king

Just a few weeks ago, Percy, who used to live on the streets, was thin and had scratches from fighting with other male cats. His new family shared these photos, and we can tell he’s much happier now and probably doesn’t miss his old life at all.
