A UPS driver heard a cat meowing. He found out that a surprise passenger, a cat, had sneaked into his truck. This made his morning delivery route more interesting.
Last Friday, Barry, a UPS driver, had a surprising morning while delivering packages. He was driving in northern Illinois, where there was a lot of snow. When he stopped at a customer’s house and went to the back of his truck, he heard a cat meowing. Barry didn’t think too much about it until he heard the same meow again at the next stop.
The cat had somehow snuck into a UPS truck
Barry sees animals every day while he’s working. He often knows them by name. He sees lots of dogs and cats throughout the day. Usually, they run away when his truck starts moving.
When Barry heard the cat meowing again, he stopped to listen carefully. He realized that the cat was inside the truck. Barry searched all over the cargo area, checking every corner and small space, but he couldn’t find the cat, even though it kept on meowing.
“I got down on my hands and knees and heard the meowing louder near the back wheels,” Barry said. He realized the cat was trapped inside the truck’s structure. Barry started thinking quickly about how to rescue the cat. He searched for a way to get to it and found a removable service panel. Barry borrowed a screwdriver from the customer’s house he was delivering to and opened the panel. The cat popped out safely.

A friendly cat with white and brown fur and curious eyes came out from the deep inside the truck. It confidently walked up to Barry with its tail up high. The cat had somehow gotten stuck between the floor and the fuel tank, causing trouble for itself.
“I don’t know how long he was there, but he was all dirty from the road. He was a very nice cat, rubbing against my legs and seemed very happy to be free from where he was stuck.”
He was happy to be out of the place he was trapped in
The cat was wet, cold, and dirty, but it didn’t want to leave the truck. It seemed like it was waiting for someone to help. Barry, despite being allergic to cats, wanted to help the cat, which he nicknamed Buddy. He planned to take Buddy to a vet. After looking around the truck and checking some packages, the cat found a cozy spot on a big box and settled down.

“Buddy stayed with me. When we continued driving and delivering packages, he stayed on the box until we got to the vet’s office.” It turned out Buddy needed medical help, so Barry made sure he got the care he needed.

“He was having a hard time breathing. He was later picked up by Friends Forever Humane Society in Freeport IL, and they have been caring for him,” Barry told Love Meow.
Barry went home that day feeling relieved, knowing Buddy was in good hands and on his road to recovery.
