One day, Erin was out walking her dog when she noticed something really tiny on the ground. She went to take a closer look and what she found made her cry.

It was a kitten, abandoned on the street and looking really sick. Erin didn’t think the kitten would survive, but she picked her up and took her home anyway.

The kitten had a lot of health problems that were easy to see, which made Erin worried if she could make it. She was covered in fleas, couldn’t breathe properly, and couldn’t open her eyes. Her tummy was really swollen, maybe because of tapeworms.

Erin and her husband didn’t sleep that night. They stayed up feeding the kitten and hoping she would be okay. When morning came and the kitten was still breathing, they took her to the vet right away.

The kitten was really small, so the amount of antibiotic the vet could give her was tiny. But the vet gave her antibiotics for her lungs and eyes, and also prescribed steam treatments to help keep her airways open.

Erin was determined that the kitten had to survive! The first few days were really tough. They took turns looking after her because she couldn’t eat much and had fleas all over her.

Erin’s husband spent time in a really steamy bathroom to help the kitten breathe better. But despite all their efforts, the kitten still looked really sick and hardly alive.

Then, something amazing happened! They introduced the kitten to their rescue dog Gatsby. Erin was worried that Gatsby might accidentally hurt the tiny kitten because she was so small.

But to their surprise, Gatsby knew just what to do. He cuddled up with the kitten right away and started licking her head.

Here’s the amazing part – once Gatsby started cuddling with the kitten, she began to get better! Her parents think Gatsby’s warmth and cuddles made her stronger.

Now that she was fighting to survive, they decided on a perfect name for her – Minerva. Every morning, Gatsby would visit Minerva, and she would come out of her blankets to touch his nose with hers.

After the antibiotics and steamy showers, Minerva’s health started improving. She began to breathe normally, and her little brown eyes opened up completely!

From that day on, Minerva and Gatsby became best friends. They play together for hours and make each other really happy. Gatsby loves chasing Minerva all around the house until they’re both really tired.

Then, they cuddle up and fall asleep together. Gatsby is all Minerva ever needed, a big brother who protects her and cares for her.

If it wasn’t for Gatsby, Minerva might not have had the strength to keep fighting. That’s why I’m really glad Erin decided to bring them together. Thanks to Erin and her husband, Minerva now has a happy life as a cat!
