While checking on cats at risk of being put down, rescuers from Cats of San Bernardino found Prometheus. He was alone in a cage, and it was clear he needed help. His paw was hurt, and he had scars from a tough life. The rescuers knew they had to act fast to save him.
The rescuers knew Prometheus needed medical help and a loving place to stay. So, they took him from the shelter to a foster home. This change was important for Prometheus. It meant he could get treatment for his injuries, his fur could be cleaned up, and he could get lots of love to help him trust people again. This was the start of a better life for Prometheus, where he could hope for a forever home where he would be happy and loved.
When Prometheus was with his rescuers, they noticed his fur was really tangled. So, the first thing they did was give him a haircut to make him look like a little lion. Then, he had surgery on his paw, which went well, and he fully healed afterward.
As Prometheus got better, his story was posted on Instagram. Many people wanted to adopt him after seeing his story. When the rescuers talked to a woman named Carrie, they felt she was the perfect match for Prometheus. Carrie and her husband felt a special connection with him and knew they wanted to bring him home with them.
From the beginning, Prometheus and his new family got along well. He would groom and lick their dog, April, to show he cared, even though she didn’t always understand. The family joked and called Prometheus a “cog,” meaning a cat who acts like a dog. His playful and loving personality made him a cherished part of their home right away.
Prometheus really liked food, probably because he worried about not having enough to eat at the shelter. He would nervously wait by the automatic feeder, afraid he might not get food. His new family felt sad seeing him like this, but they knew that with love and time, he would feel safe and relaxed.
As time passed, Prometheus started showing his true self. He became a playful and affectionate cat who loved attention. His family was happy to see him sleeping peacefully and feeling safe. Prometheus had found his forever home, bringing joy to his family in a way they didn’t expect.
From being injured in a shelter to finding a loving home, Prometheus’s story shows how much we can help animals in need. Thanks to Carrie and her husband for giving Prometheus a chance and making him a part of their family.
