If your childhood was similar to mine, your family probably had its own favorite and well-loved Christmas songs that you listened to every year.
My parents preferred the classic Christmas songs, and they didn’t let Mariah Carey or Wham! songs play. That’s why I have a special love for those old, timeless tunes that have been around for years. They always bring back memories and make me feel nostalgic whenever I hear them on the radio.
Maybe that’s why I felt really warm and happy when I heard Carrie Underwood sing “The Little Drummer Boy” with her son for the first time. It was a touching moment that made me feel really good inside.
“The Little Drummer Boy” is definitely a song that people love year after year, and I think a lot of people would agree with me on that. It’s said that the words to this song originally came from a Czech Christmas carol, and the version we hear now was written by Katherine K. Davis in 1941.
Just like other well-loved Christmas songs, “The Little Drummer Boy” has been sung by many different artists over the years. Big names like Bing Crosby, Johnny Cash, and even Justin Bieber have put their own spin on it.
Deciding which version of this beloved song is the best really depends on what you like. Everyone has different tastes, so there’s no one “right” answer. But one thing’s for sure: it’s a true classic for a reason, and every version has something special about it.
But I have to say, I felt a really nice warm feeling when I listened to Carrie Underwood’s 2020 version, especially because she sang it with her son Isaiah, who was 5 at the time.
For those who might not know – although we hope there aren’t many – Carrie Underwood is a big name in country music. She’s been amazing and winning over audiences for a long time in her career.
When Carrie Underwood said she was making a Christmas album in 2020, her fans were really excited. The album had a great mix of classic Christmas songs and new ones written by Carrie. But the best song, in my opinion, was the 11th one – and you’re right, it was “The Little Drummer Boy.”
In this really special duet, Carrie sang with her son Isaiah. He bravely sang the famous parts of the song and did even better than anyone expected.
