Helpers took care of a cat that had some behavior problems and didn’t stop trying to help him. And guess what? He ended up being super friendly and making everyone feel happy and loved.

There was a cat named Pikameow who ended up on the emergency list at the city shelter because he had some serious behavior problems. Thankfully, the rescuers from Puppy Kitty NY City quickly stepped in to help him.

As soon as Pikameow got to his new home, he snuggled into his bed and started kneading the fabric to comfort himself. The rescuers noticed how much he liked soft things, so they gave him a plushie cat with a heartbeat to help him relax even more.

They didn’t know everything about Pikameow’s past, but they knew he needed someone to be his hero and help him show his true personality.

Some noises scared Pikameow a lot, making him react by getting angry. “He’s had some times where he hurt people after loud sounds. But apart from that, he’s really nice. He’s always making muffins,” Meagan from Puppy Kitty NY City said.

When Pikameow wasn’t having those scary moments, he spent his time kneading all day while carrying a stuffed toy in his mouth.

“He’s really nice, and his meow is super cute too.”

They wanted to figure out what made him upset, so they asked a cat expert for help. She invited him to her calm home, and he brought along his favorite toy lamb.

As time went by, Pikameow got better and even began to enjoy playing with toys. But he still found some sounds really difficult. One day, he got scared by a noise from a phone, even though the cat expert tried hard to help him.

“We’re not going to stop helping him.”

They didn’t give up on helping Pika, even though they had to start again. They talked to their vet and tried really hard to find a way to help him.

“We’re going step by step and being careful, following what the vet says. We’re trying medication to help with his anxiety and behavior problems,” Pika’s new foster mom said.

Little by little, Pikameow started liking cuddles, especially when he got treats as a reward. After a few days, he even started playing with a wand toy and having fun running around.

Instead of always needing his lamb for comfort, now he snuggles up in his foster mom’s lap, puts his paws around her arm, and tries to groom it.

For the first time ever, he feels calm enough to lie on his back and let people rub his belly.

He stretches out his back toes and gives his foster mom’s hand sloppy kisses while she massages his belly.

“Pika is doing really well with his medication. He hasn’t been aggressive at all and seems super happy. He used to have a lot of behavior problems, but we think he’s getting much better,” Meagan said.

The rescue decided to help Pika when others couldn’t.

After four months of hard work, he’s starting to show his real personality. His foster mom keeps supporting him and helping him get better, little by little.
