INTRODUCING “AUGIE,” THE REMARKABLE 20-YEAR-OLD GOLDEN RETRIEVER WHO HAS RECENTLY MADE HISTORY AS THE OLDEST DOG OF HER BREED EVER RECORDED.

This delightful good-girl recently commemorated a significant milestone in her life.

The senior golden retriever reached the impressive age of 20 and celebrated the occasion with a pup-friendly carrot cake, surrounded by her pet parents and golden retriever siblings.

However, this birthday wasn’t just a special event for August and her family; turning 20 meant she also entered the annals of world history!

August (affectionately known as “Augie”) has now secured her place as the oldest documented living golden retriever.

While a number of goldens have reached the age of 17, 18, or 19, Augie proudly holds the distinction of being the first golden retriever to attain the remarkable age of twenty.

Despite Augie’s advanced age, she remains in relatively good health.

Dealing with kidney issues for several years, she may not be as spry as in her younger days, but she still moves around comfortably and enjoys leisurely walks around the yard.

Augie’s long life has been marked by challenges, including being rehomed twice before finding her forever family.

Despite the initial hardships, Augie’s journey ultimately proved worthwhile. Jennifer and Steve Hetterscheidt provided Augie with her forever home, and for the past six blissful years, she has been living happily with them and their other adorable furry companions.

Augie’s deep affection for her family is evident, and it appears that fate always intended for her to find them.

Augie’s life is now filled with immense joy, courtesy of Jennifer and Steve. The recent years have been brimming with love, exciting road trips around the country, countless snuggles, and thrilling games of fetch in the pool.

For senior dogs, getting adopted can be challenging, and Augie expresses her gratitude to Jennifer and Steve for saving her and transforming her life completely.

Undoubtedly, it’s their genuine love and care that has enabled Augie to thrive and prosper, achieving the record-breaking age of 20.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Augie and wish her and her family many more wonderful years together.
