Cameron Diaz might have come back to acting after taking a break, but fans shouldn’t expect to see her on screen much longer. According to reports, the famous Hollywood actress plans to retire from acting for good after finishing the upcoming Netflix movie “Back in Action” with Jamie Foxx.
Diaz is one of the most successful actresses in Hollywood ever. Her movies made over $3 billion at the US box office, which makes her the fifth-highest-grossing actress ever. She even got nominated for four Golden Globe awards.
But after being in three movies in 2014, Diaz vanished from the spotlight. She later said she wanted to focus on different parts of her life.
Diaz has been married to Good Charlotte musician Benji Madden since 2018. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Raddix, in 2019 via surrogate.
“I just decided that I wanted different things out of my life,” Diaz said in an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow last year. “I had been working so hard for so long, making films, and it’s such a tough job. I didn’t really have any time for my personal life.”
She’s made it clear that she doesn’t miss acting. She feels like the demands of the industry were too much for her.
“When you’re making a movie, it’s like they own you,” Diaz added. “You’re there for 12 hours a day, sometimes for months. You don’t have time for anything else. I realized I gave away parts of my life to all these other people, and they took it. I had to take it back and be responsible for my own life.”
The 50-year-old told Kevin Hart: “When you do something really well for a long time, there’s a lot that comes with it, especially when you’re the main person doing it.”
“You’re the one people see on the screen, you’re the one who’s considered ‘the talent’—everything else about you has to be taken care of by other people.”
Fans were happily surprised to hear that Diaz would be coming back to the movies to film “Back in Action” with Jamie Foxx.
According to reports, Jamie Foxx was the main reason Cameron Diaz decided to come back to acting. But now, there’s talk that her return might just be for this one movie.
“A source close to Diaz said she’s finding the long workdays tough and she doesn’t like being away from her daughter, Raddix,” the Daily Mail reported on Monday.
“Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.”
The insider also said, “Even though she’s been able to see her family during filming, it’s just not the same.”
“Back in Action,” a new action-comedy movie, is expected to come out on Netflix in 2024. But there have been some problems making it. Jamie Foxx supposedly got really upset on set and ended up firing a producer, two directors, and his driver.
A person close to Diaz said that Jamie Foxx’s issues on set didn’t change her mind about retiring from acting again once she’s done with her current movie.
I think Cameron Diaz is a really talented actress. I hope someone can convince her to come back to acting in the future!
