John Travolta and Kelly Preston had a beautiful love story that could be in a Hollywood movie. It all started when they met during a screen test for “The Experts” in 1989. They got married in 1991 and had three children: Ella Bleu, Benjamin, and Jett.
Their marriage made them very happy, and they loved being parents.
John loved his children a lot, especially his son Jett. He remembered the day Jett was born and how he couldn’t stop holding him, feeling like he couldn’t imagine life without him.
In 2009, something really sad happened to the family while they were on vacation in the Bahamas. Their son Jett, who was only 14 years old, had a seizure and hit his head in the bathtub. Even though they tried to help him, he died in the hospital.
Losing Jett was very hard for John and Kelly. Before this, they had already faced tough times because Jett had been sick before. When he was two, he was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease.
Because of what happened to Jett, John and Kelly decided to concentrate on taking care of him and didn’t have more children as they originally planned.
Even though they were heartbroken about losing Jett, John and Kelly still hoped for another child. After trying for a long time, Kelly got pregnant naturally when she was 47 years old.
Their son Benjamin was born in 2010, and it made the family incredibly happy.
His birth was seen as a miracle because Kelly got pregnant at an older age, showing how determined they were to have another child and how lucky they felt.
When they showed Benjamin to everyone, they were amazed by how innocent and lovely he was. They were excited to experience life in a new way through his eyes.
They chose the name Benjamin because it represents being gentle yet strong. Kelly said their son is calm and focused, which made their family happy and peaceful.
Even though they went through tough times and felt sad, having Benjamin brought them comfort. He reminded them to stay hopeful and showed them how powerful love can be.
John was happy to see how their new baby made their home in Ocala, Florida, feel alive again. The baby brought joy, music, stories, and hugs. When Benjamin smiled for the first time, it made his parents extremely happy.
Kelly said that Benjamin’s birth not only made their home happier but also helped their family feel better after losing Jett.
Even though they were still sad about losing Jett, having a new baby was a big blessing that made a lot of people happy.
“We’ve gotten really sweet letters and messages from people who are excited,” Kelly said. Sharing the news about Benjamin made their family feel better and brought happiness to everyone.
Kelly took care of Benjamin until he was almost a teenager before she died. John shared the sad news of her death on Instagram on July 13, 2017, after she fought bravely against breast cancer.
He thanked the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Centre for taking care of her. John also thanked their friends and family for supporting them through this tough time.
He said they needed time to help their children cope with losing their mom. John appreciated all the love and support they received as they tried to heal.
Benjamin is now a teenager, and it’s been three years since his mom passed away. In November 2023, Ella Bleu, his sister, shared a sweet message and an old picture of Benjamin when he was a little kid for his birthday. She told him how much she loves him.
John also celebrated Benjamin becoming a teenager on Instagram. He couldn’t believe how fast Benjamin was growing up.
Even though they’ve had some tough times, Benjamin’s journey from being a baby to a teenager has shown how strong and hopeful their family is.
