There are a lot of cats and kittens on the streets, and each one is unique. Some stay away from people and take care of themselves, but others aren’t afraid to ask for help. That’s what happened with this special tuxedo kitten in Orlando, Florida. She showed up at a family’s house, meowing like she was asking for help.
When the woman opened the door and went to the little kitten, she saw that it really needed help. The kitten had a cold and some problems with its face, like a cute little wink.
The woman didn’t waste any time. She picked up the kitten and brought it inside. Then, she got in touch with Liberation Cat House, a local cat rescue in Orlando, Florida. They could take care of the kitten and make sure it got the help it needed from professionals.
As soon as the kitten was brought to the local cat rescue, Ashley, who works there, took over looking after her. Ashley said, “I was taking care of the kitten while looking for a rescue, and luckily, I had room to help.”
The kitten wasn’t just safe now, she also got a cool and special name – Bug. The person who found her had been calling her Bug since they found her, so the name just stuck.
After looking at Bug more closely, they found out she was a six-week-old kitten with one eye open and one nostril.
Her other eye had a problem where the eyelid and eyeball didn’t grow fully, and the iris in her open eye wasn’t fully developed. Ashley explained, “She also has searching nystagmus, which means her eye moves quickly and she can’t control it. The doctor thinks she might have very low vision in that eye, but she might not be completely blind.”
Even though Bug had some health issues, she stayed cheerful. When she got to the rescue, she quickly started checking out everything around her. But she got the happiest when she found toys to play with.
Besides playing and running, Bug also liked sitting on people’s laps. Ashley said, “She was friendly right away. After she got to know me, she was happy to sit with me on the couch.”
Ashley was amazed at how fast Bug got used to her new home. Bug was calm, brave, and always curious, which surprised Ashley.
Usually, kittens take longer to get used to new places, but Bug was different. Ashley said, “She’s really nice and lets me pick her up easily, even when I give her medicine.”
Bug is a happy kitty who loves to explore, even though she has some challenges. Ashley said, “Bug doesn’t realize she has any problems, and we just want to make sure she has the best life possible.”
At the rescue, Bug was getting great care for her eyes and a heart murmur, so she could enjoy her life as much as possible.
Bug always wears her cute wink and smirk with pride, and she doesn’t let anything stop her, not even the vets.
When she went to see the eye doctor, she just played and had fun with the staff, making everyone smile. Ashley said, “Everyone loved Bug, and she played the whole time in the exam room. That’s one awesome thing about her – she never lets anything make her sad.”
Bug was once a small kitten who really needed help, but her strong spirit gave her another chance to live. Ashley said, “I think if Bug could talk, she would say she’s thankful for a lot this Thanksgiving. Her confidence and energy give me hope. She can still play and move around the house even if she can’t see very well.”
The rescue team hoped that Bug’s happy personality would help her find a forever home, even with her condition.
Bug didn’t have to wait long to find her forever human. A woman named Lisa from Pittsburgh fell in love with Bug right away and wanted to adopt her. Ashley shared happily, “Bug has some exciting news – she’s officially adopted!”
And the best part? Lisa has experience taking care of animals with special needs and promises to give Bug the best care she can.
In Pittsburgh, there’s a veterinary cardiology practice to keep an eye on Bug’s heart, and there’s even more good news!
