When Lee Majors, an actor from America, met Farrah Fawcett, she was a young college student who her parents encouraged to try acting in Hollywood. This started a famous love story between them.
Majors was born in Kentucky and lost both parents when he was just two years old, which was very sad for him. But he still went to college on a football scholarship. Unfortunately, he couldn’t become a professional football player because he kept getting hurt.
He went to Los Angeles with the idea of becoming a high school coach. But things changed when some friends from his football days introduced him to acting.
Once he got better at acting and people started to notice him, Majors became famous for playing Heath, the rebellious son of Barbara Stanwyck’s character, in a TV show called “The Big Valley” on ABC. He also had roles in other shows like “Owen Marshall” and “The Men From Shiloh.” But what really made him a star was when he played the “Six Million Dollar Man” in 1973.
Looking back on becoming famous, Majors felt thankful for the chance he got but also realized that it brought a lot of attention. He even joked that he couldn’t go to bars without people challenging him to arm wrestling matches.
On the other hand, Fawcett came from a religious family in Texas. Her dad worked in the oilfields. Her path to stardom started when someone saw her picture and invited her to Hollywood. Her parents took her there two years later.
Farrah Fawcett started her career as a model but then started acting. She appeared in ads for different things. Lee Majors heard about her and wanted to take her out to dinner. At first, Farrah wasn’t sure, but when they met, she thought Lee was really attractive and nice. They fell in love quickly and got married in 1973. Farrah always supported Lee in his career.
Their marriage had difficulties because they were both famous and had different careers. Farrah became even more famous with “Charlie’s Angels,” which made things even harder. They separated in 1979 and divorced in 1982.
After splitting from Lee Majors, Farrah was with Ryan O’Neal for a long time, and they had a son named Redmond. Despite some tough times, they stayed close until Farrah died in 2009 from cancer.
In the same year that Farrah found out she had anal cancer, she also lost her mother. At that time, anal cancer was very rare and only affected about five people in the US each year.
Farrah Fawcett went to The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute to get help from Dr. Lawrence Piro for her cancer. Even though the doctors said her cancer couldn’t be cured, they could still treat it.
Ryan O’Neal stayed with Farrah and went with her to Germany for more treatment. They tried their best, but Farrah died at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California, when she was 62 years old.
After Farrah Fawcett died, Lee Majors, along with his wife Faith, felt very sad. He talked about how strong Farrah was while fighting cancer and called her an angel. Lee also remembered their time together, saying he chose her famous “Charlie’s Angels” poster picture.
In an interview with People Magazine, Lee talked about how hard it was to balance their careers, which sometimes kept them apart for a long time. But he also said he’s proud of his long relationship with his current wife, which has lasted for more than 20 years.
Even at 84 years old, Lee Majors stayed busy with his career. He kept doing the voice for the character Jeff Tracy in “Thunderbirds Are Go,” showing how dedicated he is to his work.
