Mia Robertson, who is the daughter of Duck Dynasty stars Missy and Jase Robertson, is feeling very sad this week. She found out that a man who meant a lot to her has passed away.
Dr. David Genecov, who had been taking care of the young patient for a long time, passed away in a car accident last Saturday. Missy Robertson shared this sad news on Instagram while her daughter Mia was having surgery to fix a cleft lip and palate. She talked about how Dr. Genecov’s skills and medical creations had made a big impact.
“His kindness helped comfort both Mia and me, and his constant belief that we could handle tough situations made us stronger than we ever thought possible,” Missy says. “His ongoing encouragement that we can overcome challenges made us stronger than we ever thought we could be.”
Mia Robertson’s life story has been carefully recorded since she was little. She had her 14th surgery in July, which she thinks might be her last. The Mia Moo Fund was set up to help every child have the chance to smile.
Missy Robertson told Mia about Dr. Genecov’s passing, and Mia is taking it seriously. The family will always remember how Dr. Genecov involved Mia in decisions and how well-dressed he always was.
“He was more than we could have asked for during Mia’s journey with her cleft. We’ll miss him a lot, but we’re thankful for everything he did for Mia and all his other patients with cleft lips and palates. And we’re grateful for the medical advances he made for the future.”
Mia hasn’t talked about what happened on any of her social media pages yet. “She doesn’t remember a time when she didn’t know Dr. David,” her mom adds. “Please pray for his family and everyone who’s feeling the impact of his passing.”
