Teddy’s birthday was supposed to be super special. He could have gone to Disney World or Lego Land, but he chose to be with his friends instead.
Teddy’s mom, Sia, reserved a table at Peter Piper Pizza and gave out 32 invitations to Teddy’s classmates two weeks before the party. More than half of the parents said their kids would come.
But when Teddy’s birthday came, none of his classmates showed up. The family waited for over an hour, but nobody came. It made Sia really sad to see her son so disappointed. Teddy’s dad was also disappointed. He said, “The most important thing for Teddy was having his friends there, so it was really sad not to see them show up even after an hour.”
To cheer Teddy up, his parents tried playing games with him like arcade games. Sia felt like sharing their experience, so she took a picture of Teddy looking sad and posted it online. She didn’t know that the picture would become really popular and get a lot of attention.
As more and more people saw the picture, hundreds of them sent messages to wish Teddy a happy birthday. Some even sent him presents. The Phoenix Suns and the Phoenix Rising MLS team even invited the family to come to their games.
But, only one parent whose child didn’t come to the party said sorry to Sia. This reminds us all to be more caring and thoughtful towards others.
