Shannen Doherty’s last public photos before her death on Saturday showed her smiling with friends.
On June 16, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” actress was seen leaving Kristy’s waterfront restaurant in Malibu, California, with her old friend Chris Cortazzo and a female friend.
The three seemed to be enjoying themselves and were in a good mood. Cortazzo even had his arm around Doherty.
The actress wore a black newsboy cap, flared trousers, and an oversized button-down shirt. She was carrying a brown paper bag.
After a long battle with cancer, Doherty passed away at the age of 53.
After receiving a breast cancer diagnosis in March 2015, she openly conjectured that she would only have five years to live because the disease had spread to her lymph nodes.
She did, however, declare she was in remission in April 2017.

In February 2020, less than three years later, the “Charmed” alum revealed that her cancer had returned at stage 4. She later developed brain and bone metastases.
Doherty has been open about her health over the years. In April, she shared that she was preparing for the end of her life by organizing her belongings and packing up her Tennessee home to make things easier for her mother.
In November 2023, she mentioned that she believed she still had a good amount of time left, even though she was preparing herself and her family for the worst.
She said, “I’m not done with living, I’m not done with loving, I’m not done with creating, and hopefully I’m not done with changing things for the better.”
In the June 25 episode of her podcast, “Let’s Be Clear,” she expressed hope about her cancer treatment. She said, “The positive side is that because my cancer cells’ molecular structure changed recently, there are more treatment options for me to try.”

At the time of her death, she was divorcing her third husband, Kurt Iswarienko, amicably and had no children.
