A little girl was born in 1946 in Tennessee. She was one of twelve siblings. It was a cold day. Even though her family didn’t have much money, her brothers and sisters thought she was the prettiest baby.
The family’s love helped them stay strong when times were tough. Some neighbors disagreed, saying her family wasn’t any poorer than others in the area. They didn’t believe her when she said she grew up poor.
The daughter was born into a family where having lots of kids was normal. She got her dad’s determined, business-minded attitude and her mom’s creativity and spiritual side. She believes she’s successful because she got the best parts of both her parents.
She had a strong and determined attitude from a young age. She began singing in church when she was little and discovered she was good at it. She’s always stayed true to who she is. Before she became famous, her mom made clothes for her from sacks and scraps. She was inspired by a stylish local model and kept dressing uniquely, even when her dad and grandpa didn’t approve.
That brave girl grew up to be Dolly Parton, who’s now 77 years old and a legendary figure in country music. She’s known for her theme park, her charity work, and the huge empire she built with nearly 3,000 songs, earning around $500 million.
Even though she’s not going on tours, she’s still busy writing and making lots of songs. Besides her amazing career, Dolly is also a caring wife to Carl Dean, who she married in 1966.
Whether they’re traveling in their RV or at home, their strong friendship always makes her happy.
Dolly’s life shows us that love, creativity, and being true to yourself can help you get through tough times.
