When we hear about a rescue going well, it makes us feel really good. One time, a tiny kitten with black and white fur, like she was wearing a tuxedo, was saved from being outside. She ended up in a great home and found an amazing friend. Let’s meet Ripley!
People believed she was the only one left alive from her group of kittens. Even though she was very weak, she still managed to make loud cries. She definitely showed she had a strong desire to live.
Ashley Kelley helps take care of animals who need homes through Wrenn Rescues. When she heard about Ripley, the little tuxedo cat, she wanted to help. “Ripley is such a brave little cat, and she wasn’t ready to stop fighting. I think if the person who found her hadn’t rescued her, she might not have lived much longer,” Ashley said.
This little kitten needed someone to take care of her all the time. She was very dehydrated and couldn’t eat by herself. But after 18 hours, she gained 10 grams and was able to suckle from her bottle. She was already starting to get better.
Every day, Ripley wanted more food to eat. With the right medicine, good meals, and cozy beds, she became healthy. But because she had a tough beginning, she still had a lot of growing to do. At five weeks old, she was as small as a 3.5-week-old kitten should be.
After a while, Ashley was asked to help another kitten who needed a foster home. So, she decided to bring him in and give Ripley a friend.
A small striped kitten was discovered up a tree all by himself. Some kids heard his cries and saved him, but he was very skinny. They named him Pikachu. He was brought to Wrenn Rescues, where he got the medical help he needed badly.
“After four days, he was like a completely different cat. He was full of energy, playful, and loved cuddling,” Ashley said.
“Pikachu is the most lovable little fellow. He enjoys getting his face and belly rubbed, and he just can’t get enough of human attention. I’m thrilled that he doesn’t have to live on the streets anymore.”
Now that the tabby boy was healthy, it was time for him to meet Ripley, who had been looking forward to this moment.
When Ripley met Pikachu for the first time, she liked him right away and wanted to play. Pikachu was a bit shy at first, but Ripley really wanted them to be friends.
In just a few minutes, the two little kittens were getting along really well, like they had always been friends. They played with toys together and followed each other around everywhere.
“They are connected in the most wonderful way. If you pick up one, the other doesn’t get scared but stays nearby to watch over their friend. They nap together, and they even groom each other.”
Everyone could see that being together was making them both stronger and happier every day.
“It turned out great because they’re both tiny, and they’re exactly the same size and age, right down to the ounces. They were meant to be friends.”
Every morning, you can hear their little noises of excitement until they get their breakfast.
Ripley seems to be the tougher one, but she always shares her toys with her tabby brother. They both enjoy the simple things in life, especially spending time together.
The pair will soon be put up for adoption and hopefully will find their forever home together.
