Two sisters overcome all obstacles after getting another chance.

When Pumpkin and Spice, two sister cats, got to the animal shelter, they were in bad shape, but luckily, there were people there to help them.

Thoa Bui, who helps run Mini Cat Town, welcomed Pumpkin and Spice into her rescue when she learned about their situation. Both cats were sick with colds and had cloudy eyes, but they felt better being together.

They were named Pumpkin and Spice.

Spice had spots like a Dalmatian on her chest and legs, while her sister Pumpkin was a pretty calico. Pumpkin was very fragile and relied on her sister for comfort and help. They were both very sick with eye infections so bad that we weren’t sure if they would get better.

It was obvious that they needed a foster home with someone who would take care of them all the time. Pumpkin especially needed someone to look after her. For the first few nights, Pumpkin was really sick and we weren’t sure if she would make it.

After getting constant care for a few days, Pumpkin started to get better and became more playful.

Spice stayed with her the whole time, encouraging her and being there for her.

While all this was happening, Spice was also doing really well with the people taking care of her.

Her eyes started to clear up, and she got more and more active as each day went by.

Spice’s happy attitude cheered up Pumpkin, and because of that, Pumpkin’s swollen eyes started to get better, she gained weight, and her fur got fluffier. After about a week, even though their eyes were still getting treated, it was clear they were starting to feel healthier. They were eating by themselves and started playing together.

Thoa said, “They’re so different now from when they first came here. Back then, they were really sick and slept a lot.” Then she said, “The treatment for their eyes was hard on them. We’re really proud of how they kept going and didn’t give up.”

Here they are at play with the other kittens at their foster home:

Throughout their healing journey, the two feline siblings have remained inseparable, savoring every moment spent in each other’s company and rarely leaving each other’s side.

Spice is confident and curious, and she encourages Pumpkin to play with her. Spice’s lively energy is rubbing off on Pumpkin, so now Pumpkin is starting to join in and play too. Pumpkin is becoming more outgoing and starting to act like her sister.

After several weeks of getting better and growing stronger, Pumpkin and Spice can see well again and are feeling great. They’ve been through a lot together, and having each other for love and support made a big difference. When they were ready for adoption, they quickly found a permanent home where they can stay together forever.
