People heard tiny cries coming from a truck and found six kittens. Now, these kittens enjoyed their first Easter in a comfy and warm place.
A kind person heard a cat meowing from a garbage truck and quickly asked for help. A team of animal rescuers got into action and found the kittens inside the truck. Penny Richards, who volunteers with the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA), said they think the kittens were born in the truck. They weren’t in any box or bag of trash but were inside the truck itself, which was full of garbage but not moving when the kittens were born. The rescuers waited for the mom cat to come back, but she didn’t show up. So, they took the six kittens to the AWLA kitten program, where they’re getting round-the-clock care.
The next day, the rescuers went back to look for the mother cat again, but sadly, they found out she didn’t make it. Her six special babies were now safe, though. They had a cozy bed to snuggle in and caring people to take care of them. One of the kittens, Vimto, was the smallest of the bunch. She needed extra help because she was struggling to stay healthy while her brothers and sisters were doing well.

With lots of special care, Vimto got stronger and healthier, like a brave fighter. Soon, she was strong enough to join her siblings again. They welcomed her back happily, giving her lots of tiny purrs of love. Even though she started out small, Vimto became the most lively and memorable of all her siblings.
After two weeks of being looked after, the kittens’ eyes opened wide, and their ears unfolded. They began to move around their cozy spot, although they were still a bit wobbly. They were starting to get interested in what was around them. When Penny came in carrying bottles, all six kittens leaned against the edge of their little bed, looking over to see what was going on.

Some of the kittens even tried to climb over each other, wanting to be the first to eat. After they were fed, they snuggled together under their blanket and played, rolling around and showing their tummies. When they were big enough to move into a playpen, the family’s cat, Colman, came to join them and lend a helping paw.

He started taking care of the kittens, keeping them company while they practiced walking. “Since they were small, they loved rolling around in their bed and purring. Now, they climb onto my lap and flop over, rolling around happily while purring.”

Vimto is still the smallest kitten in the litter, but she has a big personality. “She’s such a brave little one. Even though she had a tough start and was much lighter than her siblings, she never gave up. She’s full of energy and has become a lively, playful, and spirited little girl.”
The kittens began to hop and run around, full of energy, chasing and playing with each other. “Lilt always looks like she’s half asleep, squinting her eyes. Ribena is very active and has a loud voice,” Penny said.
“Vimto has lots of personality and enjoys climbing on people. Lucozade is calm and likes being held. Tizer enjoys wrestling with his brothers and sisters, and Irn Bru loves his foster parents and meows loudly at meal times.” The six kittens are very close, always playing and napping together.
They recently celebrated their first Easter, playing around, eating as much as they wanted, and then snuggling together in a big pile of purring kittens with their tummies full. “They’re really close to each other. They always sleep together, never alone.”
