Alan Jackson, who’s getting the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, is expected to attend the celebration. The organizers hope everything goes smoothly when he shows up.
Alan apparently left the ceremony in 2016 when Beyonce and the Dixie Chicks performed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards.
Before the event, Alan was clear that he didn’t like pop stars being part of country music award shows.
When asked about his expectations for the CMAs 50th anniversary gala, Alan said, “Yeah, they may play some real country music.” But he also understood that the TV station wanted to get good ratings by including big events with other types of artists.
“Maybe this time it’ll actually be a good country music show,” he added.
Even though Beyonce isn’t a country music singer, lots of people liked her performance. Alan didn’t like it, so he got up and left the ceremony in a huff.
According to Billboard, Alan “stood up from the front row and walked out in the middle of the performance,” as reported by a manager from Nashville.
Alan might not be pleased this year either because Hollywood star Jessica Chastain and Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts are set to give an award.
But don’t worry, the 2022 ceremony is packed with country stars who will perform and entertain the crowd. There’s Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, and many others.
