Levi’s adoption story has a heartwarming twist that feels like a dream come true for Christie and her family. Levi was born in Texas in August 2021. Sadly, his biological mother, Wesley’s ex-partner, struggled with drug use during her pregnancy and passed away four days after Levi’s early birth at 33 weeks. Her death was due to addiction and complications from the coronavirus, as reported by Newsweek.
The couple learned about Levi when Wesley was informed about his ex-wife’s death by her sister. Christie, who had been in foster care herself, was determined to give Levi a loving and stable home.
Interestingly, before they knew about Levi, Christie had dreams about a blue-eyed, blond baby for three months. These dreams played a big role in her decision to adopt Levi once they found out about him.
The Werts family flew from Ohio to Texas to meet Levi through Child Protection Services. Their first meeting was just like Christie’s dream. “When I walked in and saw this blond-haired, blue-eyed baby, I immediately fell in love. It was a very surreal feeling. This was my son,” she said.
Adopting a baby can be tough, and the Werts family faced extra challenges. They had to sell their house in Ohio and move to Texas for court proceedings. They also had to go through the legal process of ending Levi’s biological father’s parental rights.
After 16 months of home inspections, interviews, and court appearances, Levi’s adoption was finalized, and the couple could finally bring their baby boy home.
Despite the touching story, some people criticized Christie for sharing it online. One person said, “Poor baby, he’s going to see this when he grows up, and it might cause him a lot of depression.” Another commented, “Some things you don’t share on social media, and this is one of them.”
However, many others were happy for the couple and wished their new family a happy life.
