Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty have announced that they’re engaged!
The couple, who have been together for three years, shared the happy news on Instagram on Thursday. Holly showed off her stunning yellow diamond engagement ring in photos from their vacation in Mallorca.
Both Holly, 24, and Adam, 29, included Bible verses in their posts, as Adam has shared that his faith helped him overcome addiction.
Holly, who is an influencer, was the first to share the engagement news. She posted a series of cute photos of the couple and wrote: “I’m marrying my best friend. I can’t even describe how I’m feeling right now. I still remember how huge my smile was the morning I came home from our first date.
“Thank you for making the little girl inside me feel loved, seen, and happier than ever. I love you, and I can’t wait to be your wife.”
Holly also mentioned Adam’s son, George, whom he shares with his ex-girlfriend, Eirianedd Munro. She wrote: “I promise to always be there for you and George. I’m so grateful to be part of his life, and I can’t wait for what’s to come.
‘And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.’ (1 Corinthians 13:13).”
Adam also posted about the engagement, following his recent break from swimming. In his heartfelt message, he praised Holly for staying by his side through his struggles with alcoholism and mental health.
He wrote: “I can’t believe you’re going to be my wife. I’m truly the luckiest man on earth to have such a gentle, caring, and beautiful woman by my side. You fill my heart and bring peace to my soul.
“You’ve been there for me during my lowest times and helped me understand myself. You’ve also celebrated the highs with me, and for the first time in my life, I’m happy with the man I’ve become. You even came to church with me and embraced the amazing community there without hesitation.”
Adam continued by saying: “Your family has always been so kind to me, giving me their time, emotions, and trust. I can’t wait to officially be a part of them too.
“I’ve always believed that when two people get engaged and married, they become one, and it’s the greatest honor to share that with you.
“From day one, seeing the love and care you showed to the most important person in my life, George, there was never any doubt in my mind that you would be my wife one day. I’m excited for our life together and all the challenges we’ll face along the way.”
Adam also promised: “I will always love you with all my heart.”
He included a Bible verse from Matthew 19:6: “So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
After they shared the news, the couple received lots of congratulations. Holly’s famous dad, Gordon Ramsay, wrote: “Congratulations to you both! We’re so happy and enjoy this moment! Welcome to the family ❤️.”
Gordon, who is reportedly worth £610 million, has six children with his wife, Tana: Megan, 26; twins Holly and Jack, 24; Tilly, 22; Oscar, 5; and Jesse, 8 months.
Holly, an influencer with 347,000 followers, works with brands like Space NK, Net-A-Porter, and Charlotte Tilbury. She and Adam met in 2021 on Strictly Come Dancing, where Adam was paired with Holly’s sister, Tilly. In January, Holly got a matching tattoo with Adam.
Holly studied fashion at Ravensbourne University but dropped out after a year. She was later admitted to Nightingale Hospital in Marylebone after suffering from PTSD due to sexual assaults. In 2019, she signed with Established Models, a London-based agency.
In 2021, Holly launched a podcast called 21 & Over, but it ended after 13 episodes.
Adam is best known for swimming for Team GB.
However, just over a year ago, the British swimming champion said he didn’t want to see a pool anymore, explaining that the sport that made him famous had “broken him.”
In May 2022, a fractured foot became the turning point in what he called a “downward spiral.” This led to three years of struggling with depression, alcoholism, and the separation from the mother of his child.
By February 2023, Adam decided to take a break from competitive swimming after an emotional moment during a training session when his goggles filled with tears, and he realized, “I don’t want to do this anymore.”
Thanks to his renewed faith and the support of Holly’s family, Adam made a strong comeback at the Paris Olympics, winning a silver medal.
During the 100m breaststroke race in Paris, Holly was cheering him on from the sidelines, holding his three-year-old son.
Last month, Adam shared that he wants to have more children and is excited about his future with Holly. He told The Times, “She’s amazing. She’s been so important in helping me find peace and love, based on our connection alone.”
When asked about their future together, he added, “I definitely want more kids.”
Holly has become Adam’s biggest supporter, but he’s also grateful for the support from her family, especially Gordon Ramsay, who Adam says “inspires me to be successful.”
He praised the entire family, calling them “incredible people” who are “very supportive, very welcoming, and very loving.”
Along with his relationship, Adam says his big return to swimming was also thanks to his faith.
Adam, who grew up in Staffordshire, was raised Catholic and always had some spiritual beliefs. In recent years, he joined an Evangelical Church, which he now attends almost every Sunday. He calls himself “a religious man” and told The Times, “I’d rather have my faith and my relationship with Jesus and come second, than win a gold.”
He now prays every day and recently got a cross tattooed on his torso, adding to his collection of tattoos.
In 2022, Adam separated from his son George’s mother, Eirianedd, after three years together. At the time, George was two years old. Adam shared the news on social media, saying: “Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down. My only focus is on the well-being of our family during this tough time.”
Eirianedd announced their split on social media, saying she expected a very tough future ahead.
Their breakup was partly linked to the so-called “Strictly curse,” since Adam’s on-screen chemistry with his dance partner Katya Jones raised some concerns.
However, it seems they are now on good terms. The day before Adam and Holly announced their engagement, Eirianedd shared a sweet post on Instagram for their son’s fourth birthday, which Holly liked.
